What Is Erotic Self-Trust?

Sex and relationships can get complicated. Sometimes you know exactly what you want. Other times, you're not so sure. You might feel attracted to someone but not want to have sex. You might enjoy something one day and feel differently the next. You might even find yourself making choices that don't quite reflect what you actually want.

This is where Erotic Self-Trust comes in.

Erotic Self-Trust is the ability to stay connected to yourself as you navigate your sexuality. It means learning to recognize your experiences, understand what influences them, and make choices that reflect who you are.

Our sexuality doesn't develop in isolation. Our bodies, relationships, families, cultures, and experiences all shape how we understand desire, pleasure, intimacy, and ourselves. Sometimes those influences support us. Other times, they make it difficult to distinguish what we genuinely want from what we've learned we're supposed to want.

Developing Erotic Self-Trust doesn't mean always knowing the answer. It means becoming more comfortable listening to yourself, asking questions, and allowing your understanding to change.

The framework brings together sexual safety, pressure points, and five interconnected skills: Sense, Discern, Connect, Allow, and Align.

These skills help us notice what we're experiencing, make sense of it, recognize the influences shaping us, remain present with our experiences, and make choices that reflect our authentic selves.

The goal isn't to become perfectly confident about sex. It's to develop a relationship with yourself that you can keep returning to, even when things get complicated.
